Comprehensive Health Assessment of the Older Person workshops – Victoria (2025-2028)
Managed by the Victorian Department of Health through the Commonwealth Government’s Strengthening Medicare – Supporting Older Australians initiative, the Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care (ACEBAC) at La Trobe University will be holding 140 FREE workshops for all nurses (RNs and ENs) who work in Victorian residential aged care homes. Workshops are scheduled over a three-year period throughout 2025 – 2028.
The Comprehensive Health Assessment of the Older Person (CHAOP) workshops involve three days of interactive, hands-on skills development, aided by simulation manikins. The workshops provide nurses with content and skills development in the areas of:
clinical reasoning and general assessment skills
communication of assessment – professional issues
musculoskeletal assessment
nutrition, metabolism and elimination assessment
cardiovascular assessment
respiratory assessment
cognitive and perceptual assessment
psychosocial assessment
